About
My name is Sara. I have lived in the Culpeper area for nearly 18 years. I was born and raised in Fauquier County. In beginning high school I moved to Culpeper, where I met my now husband. We have been married for 13 years and have 2 beautiful children.
After having a very “typical” induced hospital birth with my son, where I was given the routine interventions… I was faced with minor postpartum complications and was left with very little support. More than 4 years ago, this was the beginning of what peaked my passion on learning ALL things pregnancy, childbirth, babies and breastfeeding. After gaining knowledge on the subjects, I knew I wanted to venture down a different road when I became pregnant with my second child. My experience with my pregnancy and birth the 2nd time around was so different compared to my first. I had more support, more knowledge, & more confidence. While my birth plans may have changed... one of the factors that remained constant was my doula and the support I received that allowed her to advocate for me when I was unable to.
This fueled my fire even more so to enter into the world of becoming a birth worker and being able to support women and their journey(s) into motherhood.
I believe all women have an inherent right to birth, be heard, and be supported in the way their heart desires.
